Zach Bitter using CurraNZ in new 100-Mile World Record Attempt

on November 20, 2025

We’re excited for Zach Bitter’s world record attempt for the 100 Mile distance on December 20 in the US, when the legendary ultra-runner will be using CurraNZ in his attempt to break new ground – and beat the current world record of 11:14:56, held by Aleksandr Sorokin. Zach’s 100-Mile PR is 11:19:13.

Zach is an American ultra-running legend and coach, internationally respected for his multiple endurance records including the 100-mile and 12-hour world records.

Known for his intelligent, evidence-based approach to training and nutrition over many years, Zach has integrated CurraNZ into his regimen this year - and has already seen compelling improvements.

Since January, Zach has been putting CurraNZ through its paces in his build-up to his key racing goals. He reports feeling consistently good, hitting his paces, and has even surprised himself by running faster than expected during some workouts.

Zach says, “CurraNZ seems to be working really well. I can’t complain about how training has been going - I’ve been consistently feeling good and hitting my paces. I’ve been surprised in a couple of sessions, when I was a little faster than I anticipated, so that’s exciting.

“I'm also noticing that I’m not experiencing residual soreness from speed sessions in the same way.

"Interestingly, in my longer runs, my heart rate is lower than it would traditionally be for the pace and effort."

Zach’s season hasn’t been easy, with an achilles tendon injury leading him to DNF in a race in April that was “bad enough that I was uncertain I would be able to race again this year”.

Fortunately, he rehabbed well and was soon back racing, at the Equalizer Endurance Run in October, where he broke 1 Hours for 100 Miles for the fifth time.

Zach also took the time to interview one of CurraNZ’s lead researchers, Matthew Cook (podcast link here), which underscores the scientific backing and evidence-based approach behind the product.

This collaboration is part of Zach’s wider “performance sauce” that he is relying on to help him attempt the 100-Mile world record at the Desert Solstice Track Invitational this month.
