Unlocking Personalized Fat Burning - Latest Insights from the CurraNZ Research and the Zach Bitter Podcast

on August 21, 2025

CurraNZ has become a game-changer in sports nutrition, backed by an impressive volume of research confirming its ability to boost fat metabolism in both men and women, at rest and during a variety of exercises.

Its reputation is second to none among polyphenol supplements - with a higher level of scientific credibility than any other berry or anthocyanin-rich product on the global market.

A recent secondary analysis (1) from the University of Chichester, led by Professor Mark Willems and featuring Dr. Matthew Cook (pictured right) - whose work is showcased in an insightful new podcast interview with ultra-endurance athlete Zach Bitter [LINK HERE] (from 57 minutes) - brings new clarity to how CurraNZ works for different people.

Researchers pooled data from 10 clinical trials on CurraNZ, analyzing 116 participants that included recreational athletes and ultra-endurance competitors. Each supplemented with 105–420mg of CurraNZ anthocyanins (1-4 capsules), taken either as a single dose or over two weeks, before undertaking exercise such as walking, running, and cycling.

The findings are compelling: CurraNZ’s anthocyanin-rich New Zealand blackcurrant extract significantly influences your body’s fuel selection, but the effect hinges on your personal metabolic profile.

Specifically, those who have a greater tendency to burn carbohydrates are most likely to experience a shift toward increased fat oxidation. Put another way: those with the poorest rates of fat burning are likely to respond the most to the supplement.

Conversely, individuals who already burn more fat during exercise may see a slight increase in carbohydrate metabolism after supplementation. Importantly, these effects were consistent across both sexes.

This new science signals the dawn of a more personalized approach to sports supplementation. CurraNZ isn’t just a “one-size-fits-all” boost: it’s a smart tool for athletes and health enthusiasts seeking to optimize fat burning, endurance, and metabolic health tailored to their physiological makeup.

Fat oxidation during exercise is linked to better stamina and energy efficiency, making CurraNZ an invaluable ally for anyone seeking peak endurance performance or improved body composition.

Dr Cook’s most recent publication (2) revealed that women with higher levels of fat mass are the highest responders to the supplement – with increases of up to 200%.
