Our customer of the month, Brook Thomas, is a nurse and Kiwi ultra runner who put our purple pills to the test on the biggest global stage in ultra-marathon recently - UTMB CCC (100km) – followed by a brutal Backyard Ultra back on home soil.
She says: “I first tried CurraNZ while training in France for the CCC this year. My lungs/legs were very aware of the altitude in Chamonix - so I was put on to CurranNZ by the one and only Nancy Jiang, seven days out from the race.
"Unfortunately CurraNZ wasn’t able to magically heal my fractured humerus :)… But my energy definitely seemed to spike just at the perfect timing for race day!
“It happened again when I got home in November after a few months travelling/not training - but still decided to throw myself into a Backyard Ultra in Arrowtown.
“I had been feeling pretty lethargic and totally out of shape for any kind of effort - but ended up having an awesome time and somehow managed to pull 248km out of the bag that day!"
Brook was the last woman standing in the event, completing 37 laps, to her absolute delight, saying, "there were some incredibly strong girls out there killing it alongside the boys, so I’m pretty excited to see how far we can take it next.’’
Notably, the New Zealand record was broken in this race by Cantabrian Jeremy Pelvin, who overtook the previous benchmark of 46 laps (held by CurraNZ ambassador Sam Harvey), with 50 laps.
Brook adds: “After that, I've become convinced that CurraNZ really is worth the hype!
"As a nurse, as well as a recipient of a pacemaker since I was 22, I have a huge appreciation for my own physical health and am all about proactive, preventative and natural ways to enhance health! CurraNZ seems to ticks all those boxes”
