BBC doctor Dr Rupy champions blackcurrants - and challenges viewers to introduce them into their diets

on June 09, 2021

THIS week, Dr Rupy Aujla promoted blackcurrants as THE superfruit to consume to lead a healthier life.

The NHS doctor and specialist in nutritional medicine highlighted their immune-promoting nutritional qualities on the BBC’s This Morning program.

The Sunday Times best-selling author is a guest on the show and introduces new foods to viewers every week with high nutritional value.

This week he and his co-presenters challenged viewers to find ways of getting blackcurrants into their diet.

Dr Rupy said: “Diversity is key because your gut microbes are fantastic for inflammation control and general immunity.

“Blackcurrants are really nutrient dense and contain anthocyanins, which are natural anti-inflammatories, so get them into smoothies and porridges, get them onto your list as part of a colourful diet.”
